Bye Bye, Bad Mood.

Woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?

We've got you covered with 5 simple suggestions to curbing a bad mood...

1. Smile!

Fake it ‘till you make it. Even if it’s not genuine at first, the muscle movements involved with smiling actually trigger our brains into thinking we are happier. Not to mention, you may start to feel humbled by the plenty of friendly smiles that are returned.

2. Espresso Yourself

In moderation (1-2 cups), the stimulating effects of caffeine are two-fold: energizing and mood-enhancing. Just remember to stay away from sugary drinks that lead to unnecessary blood-sugar crashes later on.

3. End Up on Someone Else's Gratitude List

Gratitude lists are fantastic for reminding us to focus on what’s really important in our lives. But stepping outside ourselves and doing something that others are grateful for is a surefire way to amplify the feel-good gratitude chemicals.

4. Squeeze it Out

Feeling the physical effects of a bad mood? The LI4 pressure point is located between your thumb and index finger. Press firmly for 30 seconds to reduce muscular tension that accompanies stress, anger, and other negative emotional states. Note: do not attempt this if you are pregnant, as it may induce labour.

5. Lay Down the Welcome Mat

As long as it’s not drastically interfering with your life, an occasional bad mood is perfectly normal. Instead of placing unrealistic pressure on yourself to be perpetually happy, learning to sit in the discomfort of a bad mood may be just what you need to keep moving forward- even if it’s with a frown.
